The GTO was a runaway success for Pontiac. Groups like the Beach Boys sang about it. Movies like Vin Diesel’s XXX celebrated it. Millions of young men & women dreamed of just driving one. For the era it was one of the Icons. With Beautiful & Classy lines, Torque-Rich Engines and Standard Bucket Seats it was an Instant American Classic.

 

This GTO comes with the ‘Pontiac Historical Society’ or PHS Documentation. These document all of the options the car was produced with. These are very desired documents that authenticate the car as a real GTO as well as list all of the factory options that this car was originally produced with.

 

This GTO presents nicely with a clean, glossy shine. The chrome & bright work has been upgraded with some quality reproduction components including New Vinyl Top molding, New Rear Bumper and New Beltline Moldings. This one was built to be a driver and has a 15 year old amateur paint job that is still quite presentable but not up to show standards. The body on this GTO is overall quite good with original floors. The trunk pan was previously professionally replaced as was the rear deck between the rear window and trunk lid. There are still some of the typical pinhead bubbles and such, but a much better car than most older restorations.

 

The 389 under the hood has very low miles on the rebuild and comes with full receipt documentation. The engine has been upgraded with a Factory Tri-Power Induction system, Edelbrock Performer RPM Cylinder Heads, Thumper Camshaft, Roller-Tip Rockers and Ceramic Coated Headers. The Tri-Power has been fitted with the Ram Air kit that feeds cold air from the hood scoop and seals the carburetors from hot engine air for increased performance. The engine sounds incredible and runs very strong.

 

The 4 Speed Transmission is a must have for any Multi-Carb Muscle Car! This one uses Hurst Linkage and really makes the experience.

 

This GTO was optioned originally with Air Conditioning. While the under-hood components are missing, the heater box and controls are still in place making for a much easier installation. High Quality under-hood ‘kits’ consisting of a modern compressor, brackets, hoses, condensers and hardware are available from Hot Rod Air and Vintage Air making this a relatively easy installation.

 

GTO’s are not small cars and the Power Steering & Power Brakes are highly appreciated options that really make the car much more enjoyable to own.

The BF Goodrich tires and Cragar wheels have very few miles on them and really look at home on the car.
