This is a truly GORGEOUS GTO!!! An extremely rare Factory Starlight Black car with Black Bucket Seat Interior & Air Conditioning! If you want Rare & Desirable, this is it. It comes with Full PHS Documentation and a notebook chronicling the build of this car with both receipts and photos.

This GTO has been treated to some nice quality restoration work both on the mechanical and the cosmetic aspects. The Starlight Black paint is in great condition with a brilliant shine and a deep luster.

This is a nice quality driver paint, not show, but easily enough for weekend shows and an endless string of thumbs up and compliments. The chrome & bright trim are in excellent shape and are a mix of original and quality reproduction pieces. The panels are nice, solid and straight with no obvious signs of rust repair or accident damage.

Inside the interior is clean & classy. The door panels, carpet, headliner are all quality reproductions. The dash pad was restored at Just Dashes and is soft & supple. The instrument bezel sports bright fresh chrome along with new wood-grain. The console has been refinished and is in amazing condition.

The horn button, steering wheel, dash emblems etc are all extremely clean & nice. The seat upholstery is still the original with a panel and seat cushion repair on one bucket seat. The original upholstery is a true testament to the care this car received for the last 50 years.

Under the hood the 389 is believed to be the original engine and wears the correctly coded ‘XE’ coded block called out in the PHS Documentation. The engine has undergone a documented rebuild with a magna fluxed & 0-decked block, 093 heads, hardened valve seats, bronze guides, new intake & exhaust valves, .040 bore, .010/.010 crank, ARP rod bolts, 400 HO Ram Air spec camshaft, Ram Air exhaust manifolds, new steel flywheel and more. The Keith Black pistons were custom milled to produce a compression ratio of 9.5 to 1 in order to use pump fuel without detonation. The engine is fed by an original and correctly dated Tri-Power manifold with 3 carburetors. The assembly was restored nicely and besides the foam filters appear as stock on this car. This engine runs excellent with good, smooth & reliable power.

The Muncie 4 Speed was rebuilt and shifts like a dream with the factory shifter. Clutch engagement is smooth and predictable.

The Factory Air Conditioning is in excellent working order. The pump of course is a later model unit that works with stock components to give a more easily serviced and reliable unit. In a Black on Black Big Block Muscle Car you will really appreciate it when the temperatures outside climb.

The factory radio is still in place but a nice quality stereo system hides in the factory glove box. It is a nice system with speakers in the factory package tray. No big subs, just a simple system.

Under the car has been nicely detailed and looks crisp, clean & correct. The obvious deviation from stock is the ‘Ultimate Exhaust System’ from Ames Performance with an X-pipe. The car has a nice note to the exhaust but with the dyna-mat in the car it is nearly silent inside the passenger compartment. This is a ‘Gentleman’s Muscle Car’.

The wheels are high quality chromed versions of the factory Rallye II Wheels. They are a nice touch that really works with the black & chrome theme on the car. The BF Goodrich Redline tires look at home on this car and provide nice grip for that 389 4 speed.
