The Darts have long been part of a cult following. Kind of a sleeper in the Muscle Car world. They do not get the press that the Charger or Challenger. However, due to their light weight and serious engine options they easily prevailed against their similarly optioned big brothers at the stoplights. They were cheap when new with limited options. The flagship trim for the Dart was the GTS that came standard with the 340.
This Dart came to us as a stalled project that was nearing the finish line. A tremendous amount of time and effort have been spent leaving the details and glory for the next owner.
The body on this Dart is quite impressive. It was professionally repainted in the factory Bright Blue Metallic and looks beautiful. The paint was laid down very nicely and the panel gaps look crisp & even. This one is easily nice enough for the weekend shows, sunny day cruises and neighborhood bragging rights. Much of the chrome trim has been restored or re-plated. There is still some trim to buy like the rear bumper and tail lights. The large aluminum trunk trim panel is included but has not been fully refinished yet.
Inside the interior restoration is well under way. The build began with Dyna Mat (sound and heat insulation) installed and overlaid with a reproduction carpet kit. New seat upholstery was professionally installed and fits nicely. New reproduction door panels are in place. The reproduction emblems for the seats and door panels are included. The black headliner looks great but does have a small hole in the area of the driver's visor, see pics.
Under the hood the engine compartment has been nicely painted. The 340 (not numbers matching) has been rebuilt to stock specs and has not even been fired yet. It wears the correct X heads and exhaust manifolds. The carburetor has a rebuild tag on it as well. The fan is not installed yet but is included in the trunk. The radiator number is 2949068. No information/history was provided on the transmission though it is supposed to be a good working unit. The differential is reported to be the rebuilt original 3.23 Sure-Grip but no documentation was provided. The driveline is missing.
The glass appears to be in good condition. The windows roll up and down properly.
What you see is what we have. Please see included pictures. This car will need some parts and pieces. I do have a great local source for used parts and can pass along their number to the buyer. T
