Say hello to our GALAXIE XL!  Appropriately named, everything is Xtra Large and beautiful on this one.  And it's packing some seriously big muscle!  But don't be frightened by her largeness, this car is a gentle giant begging for the open roads!

 

Let's dive into this beast and see what makes it tick!  The mileage on the odometer is currently just over 67,000 and is reported to be the original. At the heart lies an excellent running numbers matching 428 Big Block combined with a C6 trans.  This motor according to the last two owners is original and untouched - and we believe this to be true.  Recently the carb was rebuilt along with new plugs and wires, thermostat and water pump.  Yes, that is the original Autolite carb, and it works very well.  The motor starts right up as it should.  Idle is smooth and power is instant.  The car is simply smooth - It drives and rides smooth, shifts smoothly and comes to a stop nicely with power brakes.  One can imagine some flowmaster mufflers to get that big block growling a little louder!

 

This car was repainted some time ago and shows well with only a few imperfections and no major dents or dings.  The moldings, glass and bumpers look great and with a little more elbow grease, the chrome will polish up with even more shine than it already has.  Rust is not a concern with this car and good thing because there's a lot of steel !

Jump inside and you are welcomed by original and comfy bucket seats (power drivers seat) with a center console. Both drivers and passenger seats tilt forward for easy access to the huge rear seat. Tilt steering keeps things proper for drivers of every size.  The windows and wing windows roll up/down and in/out as they should.  Gauges, blinkers and lights work properly as does the heater and wipers.

Pop the trunk and you'll find perhaps the largest trunk ever, complete with the largest jack along with spare tire.  Haul your bulk buy Costco groceries, a bail of hay, small bikes or the kids who won't behave - who needs a truck or suv!?
