This ’69 Cougar XR-7 is a beautiful example of the breed. With an impressive & desirable list of factory options it is an excellent example of Luxury Muscle.

 

The body and paint are in great condition with no visible rust or prior rust repairs you start to get the idea of the quality of this car. The paint is in great condition with some of the normal stone chips and minor scratches of a well cared for older repaint. The paint really shines nicely and has a deep luster. The chrome trim, which there is plenty, is also in good original condition with just some minor imperfections from age. Overall, this is a really nice driver as well as a weekend show & shine participant.

 

Inside, there is no mistaking the factory leather interior, opening the door you are greeted with the tell tale smell. The leather is still supple with a nice black finish thanks to a life lived indoors. As an XR-7 it is equipped with a ‘Rim-Blow’ steering wheel, Factory gauge package with tachometer, a full length floor console and wood-grain trim. The optional Tilt-Tilt Away steering is a rare option that swings the steering column to the passenger side upon shutting the car off and opening the driver’s door. This option still functions properly as well.

 

The factory air conditioning is a rare & desirable option. This system is complete and functioning. This is especially appreciated when you have a black leather interior. A great side benefit of the A/C is that it mandates the heavy duty cooling package making this car comfortable in the warmest climates.

 

Under the hood, the 351 Windsor runs excellent. It fires up easily, has a smooth idle and produces tons of low end torque the Windsors are famous for. The FMX automatic goes into gear quickly and shifts nicely.

 

The braking in this car is excellent thanks to the factory power disc brakes. They compliment the power steering making this car easy and reliable to drive for just about anyone.

 

The tires were just replaced with new white walls that come with a nice transferable warranty and peace of mind on those long summer road trips.
