This 1970 Ford XL is everything you could want from a full size convertible cruiser. Behind the hidden headlights and v-nose hood, you will find a powerful Y-Code 390ci 2V V8 with an automatic transmission. A very quite, yet powerful power-plant to get you where you need to go. The body shows crisp lines that blend together well and the rear pulls it all together with the new "to 1970" taillights. Many people still believe this to be a Ford Galaxy, however the XL is a separate model of its own and was separated from the galaxy family in 1969. Ford Built 33,599 XL's in 1970, and only 6,348 were convertibles making the drop-tops hard to find.
The Body presents well, A re-paint has been performed and overall looks good with only minor blemishes seen. Both doors open and close good, same for the hood and trunk, and the body lines all line up well. Some light bubbling is seen around convertible top chrome trim
The Power top is in good shape and operates well. Included is a convertible top boot for when the top is stored in its lowered position.
The Interior looks great with no rips or tears seen. The dash is a Unique "cockpit" style fascia giving the driver full access to everything while leaving an open feeling for the passenger. One crack is seen on the dash pad. All 4 power windows work good and seal up well when the Top is up. The AM radio is still in place and even works. Heater works well through all vents and warms up rather quickly.
The engine is a 390ci V8 2V engine and starts/runs quite well. Mated behind is an automatic transmission that shifts smoothly. The Power steering turns with ease and the Power Front Disc Brakes stop as they should.
The Chassis does show some rust on the Floor Pans and Trunk pan, other surface rust is seen as well. Above you will see plenty of pictures to display the chassis. This vehicle is still fully drive-able as-is and is fully repairable if you choose to go that direction. Don't let the rust scare you though, we have seen much worse still on the road today!
Overall this is a great car with plenty of fun times to be had. Everyone has to stop and ask about it because they all had one growing up, but never knew they made convertibles. It really is a unique car that draws attention.
