5300 Miles on Restoration
With only 1806 Boss 351s produced they were never a common car. They are widely regarded as the quickest 4 seat small block Muscle Car. With stock examples belting out over 360 Horsepower, Standard 4-Speed Transmissions and Standard 3.91 Ratio differential they can be a handful. After years of drag racing, poor judgement calls and salted roads not many survived. To find an example that has survived with all of its original quarter panels in-tact is amazing.
This Boss has only a reported 5300 miles on the restoration. The paint and body are gorgeous. With a deep shine and nice straight panels this is an impressive car. The pictures really do not do this car justice. The bright work looks nice and really compliments the 15" Magnum 500's. The factory NACA Duct Ram Air Hood still wears the correct Ram Air Plenum and ducting. The finish inside the door jambs and trunk was done nicely.
Inside the interior is very impressive. This is a rare interior with only 9 Mustang Sportsroof cars coming with this paint & interior trim combo. Of course it has been completely restored with new carpet, seat upholstery, door panels, headliner, etc. The fit and finish are quite nice with very minimal wear from 5300 miles of use.
Under the hood, the Boss 351 engine runs excellent. It has low miles on the rebuild and sounds great with a slight but noticeable lope to the idle. It is a correct Boss 351 engine but does not have any VIN stampings we could find. With a correct DOAE-L 4-Bolt Main Block with a date casting of 0J10, D1ZX AA crankshaft, D1ZX-AA connecting rods, D1ZX harmonic damper, D1ZX-A flywheel, D1ZX-CA intake manifold, DOZE & D1ZE -BA exhaust manifolds, D1ZX-BA Dipstick, D1ZF-AA alternator, D1ZF-AA alternator pulley. The carburetor and distributor are not the correct units.
The transmission is the Top Loader RUG AV1 unit. It shifts beautifully through the Hurst Linkage. The clutch is a heavy duty unit with some pedal effort required.
The rear differential is the 3.91 Limited Slip Traction-Loc unit in an 'N' Case with 31 spline axles. It wears its correct tag and has been detailed as it was stock in red oxide primer.
Underneath of the car the original undercoating was left in place and the suspension and drivetrain were replaced or cleaned and repainted as stock. The floors all appear to be the originals and look great. Correct ink dobs, stripes and markings are in place. The car has logged 5300 miles since completion so there is some road dust & debris present, but everything still looks to be in great condition.
The Magnum 500 Wheels are brand new reproductions with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires.
