So many of our Broncos come to us already lifted with cut fenders that we forget the allure of the original design. The classic lines in a compact package and the ability to fit into any parking garage downtown are things we appreciate.
This Bronco underwent a complete, Frame-Off Restoration about 10 years ago. Pictures of the restoration show the body completely dis-assembled & off the frame. The body had beautifully painted floors, firewall and frame. Since then approximately 10k miles have been clocked. While not still Restoration Fresh, the undercarriage is still clean & tidy, the steering & suspension are work nicely and the body still has a good look.
This Bronco was built to be a driver so the paint is presentable but not show quality. The paint was just professionally re-polished. The panels line up very well and the doors close nicely. The original bumpers were used on the restoration so we did replace those with a pair from Tom’s Broncos with high quality plating. The tail lights, side marker lights and turn signals were all just replaced with new reproductions as well. The results really brighten up the look.
Inside the interior still looks good. The carpet shows some wear but fits well and looks good. The seats are quite comfortable and really hold you in nicely. The dash was stripped & painted with the body so it has a very nice finish. We did replace the factory door panels both front & rear as the originals were showing some age. The new pieces really add some pop to the interior & show well.
Under the hood lives a Fuel Injected 5.0 H.O. Engine. This unit produces just shy of 100 more horsepower than this Bronco came with new. With roughly 40k miles on the clock it still runs very strong and has excellent manners. It is backed up by a crisp shifting automatic transmission.
The suspension was upgraded with a Wild Horses 2” lift kit. The 2” lift is still within range of the alignment specs so this Bronco still drives nicely. The steering components were also replaced during the restoration. The steering is still nice & tight, very confident on the road.
This Bronco is a great example of a mildly modified Bronco with the convenience of a fuel injected 5.0 engine. It still runs & drives excellent and has that un-cut pedigree.
