Last Year of the Dart in the North American Market

This Special Edition Dodge Dart is called the Lite due to Dodge Decreasing the overall weight by at least 150 LBS over the Standard Dodge Dart Sport. To do this Dodge changed the Bumper Brackets, Hood and Trunk lid Bracing, and Transmission Housing to Aluminum. Also the Crankshaft was changed to a much lighter Cast Iron Material. Along with this the Carburetor and Distributor were specifically calibrated. The reason for doing all this is to compete with the foreign car market fuel economy in which they were able to achieve 36 MPG highway.

Now this Dart Lite is in great original shape with expected wear for the age. The Exterior shows original paint besides the trunk lid. A few blemishes are seen throughout but no visible collision damage is seen and body gaps are all good, Doors do open and close as they should. This would make a great original "Patina" driver as-is, or would be an excellent candidate for a restoration as these are getting harder to find in this shape.

 

The Interior shows the same general wear supporting it's age. The seats have been recovered but drivers seat is sloped, wear is seen to driver carpet, etc. All the dash instruments and accessories do seem to work as designed. It would appear that the only modifications to the interior are an aftermarket stereo and tachometer.

The Engine runs and drives great. The 225ci Slant Six Engine is well known for being Bulletproof and when mated to the 4-speed transmission makes this a very reliable Daily Driver for any Mopar Enthusiast.

Overall, The possibilities are endless for this Dodge Dart whether you want a fuel efficient classic car, or a super light muscle car project. Rust is minimal with only significant rust seen on passenger floorboard, all other floors are solid!
