Lincoln Mercury never offered the venerable 'Eliminator' option in a convertible. If you wanted one you needed to build it yourself in the order sheet, pretty much how this one was built. This '69 Cougar is simply PACKED with good options!!! This Convertible is one of only 67 351 M-Code 4-Speed XR7's made in '69. When you add in options like Power Windows, the 351 Performance Group, Traction-Lok Axle and a White Power Top things get quite rare. 

The big obvious change was the move from Candy Apple Red to Competition Orange. Otherwise, this Cougar looks much like it did on the Sutherland-Wilson Lincoln Mercury dealership floor. The paint shines nicely and it's easy to see why Competition Orange has always been such a popular color. The panels line up well and the chrome trim shines brightly. Overall this is a very solid convertible with good floors, quarters and frame rails. Just take a look at the pics. 

The convertible top was just professionally replaced and looks amazing. The hydraulics work properly and the frame appears to be in great condition. 

Inside the interior is mostly original with the factory leather seats still in place. They do have some wear, after all they are 55 years old, but they still present well. We did replace the factory red carpet as it was beyond salvation. It provides a nice contrast to the white seats. The dash gauges work nicely. 

Under the hood the original numbers matching 351 Windsor has been cleaned & properly detailed. The engine runs excellent. We have no documents on an engine rebuild. The underside of the engine and transmission have their fair share of road grime and gunk. The transmission case does show signs of sealant on the gaskets not consistent with original Ford sealer so something has been done.
